Speed Bump

Hit a minor speed bump.
On day 3 of panic attacks, so i haven't been training. The weather has been cooperating and I had every intention of starting C25K this weekend, but my body had it's own idea, and i am a bit troubled by it.

I haven't had an attack in quite a while, I've had uneasy feelings in certain situations, but not a full-on panic attack.

It started Friday mid-afternoon. Our new carpet was being installed, hubby was in the dining room playing on his computer and I was cleaning the kitchen and chatting with him when i started to feel 'edgy'.

I went outside on the back deck to catch my breathe and cool down (with the edginess comes hot flashes and the feeling of not being able to breathe), once i caught the chill i went back in the house and had some cold water to drink. I felt OK after about 5 minutes.

Saturday, hubby and I were out and about running errands. We decided to go to a local tex-mex place, but on the way there we were detoured because of flooding. I got a little edgy a couple of times, but nothing too severe. We got to the restaurant, and there were a ton of little kids there, i mean LITTLE, like the ones that scream and cry for no reason at all but to hear themselves? yeah, those. I spotted a booth in the far corner of the quieter side of the main room and asked the host if we could sit there, he told us he had to have it cleared, but we could wait if we wanted. Well, that waiting period did me in, we never got seated in that booth because no one ever cleared it, so he put us in the main dining room seated behind a party of 6, and surrounded by little babies. Look, I love little babies, but not that many in one place in a crowded bustling dining room when I'm already 'edgy'.

It took the waitress forever and a day to get to us, and by that time I was already in 'flight' mode. So we left and got stuck in traffic on the way to the U-turn on the highway (because of the flooding). That's when the big one started, tunnel vision, stomach drops, shaking, light-headed, chest heavy, hot flashes..... to name a few. I saw the exit ramp, I saw the other side of the highway (which was moving at a fast pace), there was no reason to have an attack that severe. I vocally tried to calm myself down, nothing was working... next step was to jump out of the truck and run, or cry, but hubby pulled into the adjacent parking lot and cut through and took the back roads to familiar roads with no traffic. He's a God send.

Today, day 3,  I haven't had any 'attacks', but i have felt off-the-mark. Not sure if it's the fear of having another attack, or the fact that I'm just frustrated at it all. I'm weaning off of my meds so we can start a family, and I've been doing AWESOME with the weaning, minus a couple of very minor events that had to do with the wean itself. Now this.. 3 days of hell.

Last week i started a food journal, and i only logged 2 days. Looking back, it's clear that I'm barely reaching the 1200 minimum mark. So i decided today to make sure i did. Hubby went grocery shopping for us, since that is usually a place that triggers an attack because of the loud music in the store (why!?) and the crowds and the lines.

I entered the nutrition label information, weighing my foods, making sure the portion sizes I'm consuming are correct; I'm up to about 1500 calories today. The majority of those calories came after 1pm, and since then i haven't been feeling 'edgy'. Either the lack of calories is triggering the attacks, OR it's just a coincidence that they are subsiding.

I'm going to have to monitor and maybe play around to see if maybe lack of calories isn't creating the problem.

TD10

Woke up with the sun and had a lot of energy, so after I created my to-do list, had a few sips of my morning java, I decided to have a cardio party.

DH was at a law enforcement event so I had to go it alone. I decided on Turbo Jam Cardio Party! I love that routine! It's been quite a long time since I popped that workout in, and I'm glad I did! Chalene always makes it fun, and it never feels like work until the next day! My upper body, and abs are definitely feeling it today!

I had every intention on doing strength training at night, but a bad headache and nausea set in. Not sure what that was all about, but this stomach thing has been plaguing me for most of the week, and I haven't been able to workout the way I wanted or scheduled.

It's a Crazy Place For a Workout

Yes, I changed the name of the blog!
Over the course of the years since creating this blog (previously known as "It's a Crazy Place"), my life has changed dramatically.

The original intent with this blog was simply a place for me to vent and share and have fun doing the new-hip thing! BLOGGING!

It soon evolved into an anti-cop-hater/pro-police place that I used to vent my frustrations and release some anxiety, and share with the rest of my followers what's truly going on out there in the police world that people don't hear about (for whatever reason).
Then life happened (i know, how DARE it!).. I got involved with a company called teambeachbody and became a coach for them, and i haven't turned back since. I had a blog going when i originally started with them called My Wedding Workout. That blog has since been removed and deleted (why i ever did that is beyond me lol) but it showcased my daily fitness life leading up to and including my wedding and honeymoon. I actually complete P90X WHILE on my Honeymoon in Aruba. That is how dedicated I am to my fitness, I'm just really bummed that i deleted the blog because i really would have liked for you all to have seen it.. I had a lot of fun posting and sharing, but i digress.

After I got married and moved into my married home with DH, I had to quit my job because i just couldn't handle the commute anymore.. somewhere along the way of the last few years I've developed anxiety/panic disorder (more on that later cause it's a tangled web) and my commute more than doubled each way.. after sitting in traffic for nearly 2.5 hours one night having panic attack after panic attack it was decided that i couldn't continue there with a commute like that. SO i decided to speed up my studying to be a personal trainer with NASM. In December 2010 I became a NASM Certified Personal Trainer. In January 2011 I started my own fitness business called Fitness to a T. But during all of that time i was still giving free coaching with teambeachbody under my own team of coaches known as The NJ Fit Club - and continue to do so today. I was able to work from home and have a residual income while i studied for my certified personal trainer exam. I am also an Elite Trainer at Sharecare.com working with Dr. Oz and "Move it and Lose it.

I love what I do, but i also love my connection to law enforcement (as i am married to one) and i want to try and get back to police blogging. The only difference is I am certainly going to be blogging about my fitness journey with my personal training and my coaching. Both are so rewarding in their own respects.

So basically, this is me. This is my life. This is what i love to do and am passionate about, and i no longer want to keep it separate from my other interests. Being in 3 different places takes a lot of work.. and until they can get that whole cloning thing worked out I am just one person! lol

I'm placing this post in the first quarter of the year because i want to move some blog posts over from another blog that i created regarding the panic and anxiety disorder, and instead of doing a bulk upload and having 20 articles in one day I'm going to back date them. So thanks for understanding and supporting me!

Chevy Returns to the Police Car Market

Unlike it's Dodge Counterpart, the Caprice, in my personal opinion, does not look aggressive enough.
To each is own.

EXCLUSIVE: The Chevy Caprice Police Car Is Back!

By Ray Wert, 12:00 AM on Mon Oct 5 2009

After a 15-year absence patrolling U.S. streets, an all-new law-enforcement-only Chevrolet Caprice Police Patrol Vehicle (PPV) joins GM's fleet in 2011. Although it's built on the same rear-wheel-drive Camaro and dearly-departed Pontiac G8-spawning Zeta platform, it's not a G8 sedan.

Chevrolet plans to make the announcement of their new police cruiser today at the annual International Association of Chiefs of Police convention, in Denver, Colorado. Because we asked, we've been given an exclusive look at the details of the new car they plan to begin taking orders on next year with cars set to hit the streets in early 2011.
Contrary to reports at the end of last week by a number of auto outlets, we're now able to exclusively report GM's new police cruiser brings back the old Chevy Caprice name. It also will not be a re-badged Pontiac G8 sedan. Instead, the new Chevy uses the longest wheelbase version of the Zeta platform — 118.5" — making it almost four inches longer than the 114.7" wheelbase Pontiac G8 sedan. If that bigger-than-G8 number sounds familiar, it should — it's the same length as the Holden VE Ute, the Holden Statesman and the Middle Eastern Chevy Caprice and...drum roll, please...the Pontiac "El Camino" G8 ST. That's right folks, the new police car from Chevy is as close to the El Camino as we're coming here in the U.S. We'll give you a moment to clean up any coffee you've just spit up.
Done? Good, because there's more to the story. Chevy sounds like it's setting up the Caprice to not only meet the bar set by the police vehicle competition, but to blow it away. The long wheelbase Zeta-platformed Chevy sits right in the middle of the Ford Crown Vic's 114.7" wheelbase and the larger Dodge Charger's 120.0" wheelbase.
Under the hood, GM says the Caprice will have a 6.0-liter LS2 V8 engine rated at an estimated 355 HP and 384 lb-ft of torque mated to a six-speed auto transmission. Power output compares favorably to the 340 HP HEMI in the Dodge Charger police edition and absolutely blows away the Ford Crown Vic's 250 HP 4.6-liter V8.

We're told that bigger engine will deliver an expected best-in-class 0-to-60 time of under six seconds along with a similarly best-in-class top speed. But, for those forces uninterested in the super-sized 6.0-liter eight-cylinder engine, we're also told a V6 engine will be offered beginning in the 2012 model year.
The Caprice with both engine sizes will recieve the same police car-specific vehicle systems like high-output alternator and standard 18-inch steelies with bolt-on center caps and will ride on a heavy-duty four-wheel independent suspension and a "police-calibrated stability control system."
Chevy's cop competitive streak continues to the interior with optional compatibility available for in-dash, touch-screen computer technology (by relocating the standard radio to the trunk), two trunk-mounted batteries, with one of them dedicated to powering various police equipment and complimentary special packages such as spotlights; lockouts for the power windows and locks; and an "undercover" street-appearance package. Good luck with the "undercover" part considering there's no civilian version of the Caprice PPV.
Even the front seats have been sculpted to "pocket" an officer's equipment belt, with the foam density of the seatback and cushion insert surfaces designed to conform to the shape of an equipment belt's various items, allowing the officer's back to rest properly on the seatback surface. The barrier between the front seat and rear seat is also positioned farther rearward than the Charger or the Crown Vic, allowing for full front-seat travel and greater recline while officers take a highway-side siesta.
The new Caprice will also have significantly larger interior volume — 112 cubic feet — than the Ford Crown Victoria, including — thanks to the longer wheelbase — nearly 4 inches more rear legroom to help give handcuffed suspects a much more comfortable experience. The Caprice PPV's long wheelbase also gives it 18 cubic feet of free trunk volume. That's enough room for a full-size spare located under a flat load surface in the trunk storage area and any number of shotguns, RPGs and whatever other riot gear an officer feels like fitting into a trunk.
The new Caprice will not replace any current vehicle in the GM police vehicle fleet. Rather, it will join the Chevy Impala and the Chevy Tahoe in the bowtied brand's marked patrol vehicle lineup as a very high-powered member of GM's fraternity of police vehicles.
We can't wait to try out the driver's seat. Hopefully it'll be sometime before we try out the extra-large back seat.

The Twitter Phenom

Disclaimer: I am in no way advertising or promoting the use of Twitter. I'm just sharing my experience with it.

A while back i blogged about the Facebook Phenom.. It is now the hub of my life! I love it there.
Now, i have come upon the twitter phenom. I've been a tweeter now for a couple of weeks. I've been finding some of my normal twitters to follow: HGTV, Wine, fitness, and just yesterday came upon the NYPD, NJSP, and the FBI and Homeland security. They twitter too!

Now some people might say.. yeah? so what? we hear about it in the news! yeah.. ummm.. no we don't.. The FBI is tweeting about stuff i would never hear about in the news because it hasn't happened in my area. The NYPD puts out tweets about suspects, i'm right over the water so i might actually come upon them. The NJSP does the same thing, along with traffic stops (that's cool!). Homeland security tweets about everything related to them: threat levels, why, where, what's affected etc.. it's great. Officer.com, Policelink, Amber Alert, and NLEOMF tweet as well. This is about as fast as you can get any story, unless you work with that news org.

On an off-law enforcement note: a very famous female trainer that trains on the biggest loser? she's a very negative person.. I've been following her tweets for shits and giggles, and quite frankly she's annoying! lol (just thought i would throw that in there lol)

Disturbing

I might have blogged once before about certain things happening; errr.. rather NOT happening on my friend's squad.

There was a light at the end of that tunnel at the end of the year when promotions were handed out. The hope was that the good leaders that were promoted would put an end to the sloth. It couldn't have been farther from the occurrences now happening.

The former Sgt. is now the Lt. he pretty much finds a place to hide and disappears. If a call does come in to which he is needed it takes him forever to get there. The new Sgt., which tested up through the ranks, was a well rounded, very intelligent, ambitious guy that everyone was excited for. He turned out to be the "go home and sleep" guy.

That's just great.. the 2 top tiered guys and they are nowhere to be found on calls.. REAL GOOD POLICE WORK!

Now there's the rest of the squad. 2 guys go home and sleep (besides the Sgt.) They ACTUALLY CALL dispatch and tell them that they are not available until whatever hour. One guy works at a snail's pace, and the other just calls out every other night. This places my friend and one other guy in a very bad position should something go wrong; and it almost has a few times.

What does one do in a situation like this? You can't nark on anyone because forget it.. that's blacklisting yourself, yet the only other option is putting your life even more at risk for keeping your trap shut!

So here's my 2 cents.
If you cops out there want to sleep at night.. go get a security job and leave the dirty work for the guys and gals that actually WANT TO WORK. OR, here's the other option.. you can't stay awake at night, get a day shift.. You selfish jerks.. you are putting your brothers and sisters at risk should a real emergency happen. Think of their families and friends as well.. and not only that but think of how shitty you would feel God forbid something were to happen as a direct cause of your laziness and inability to get to the scene in a timely fashion because you wanted to go home and sleep.

Slandering Media

Hi Everyone,
Some of you that follow me may also read or follow Roanokecop's blog and have probably seen this already.. If so, you can turn around, but i want to get the word out, and he did a marvelous job at this, so i have to share.

This is an e-mail i sent to my family and friends. Instead of rewording for here i simply copied and pasted the e-mail, sorry for any repetition.

As most of you know, I have a blog http://solareclipsegt.blogspot.com/ (well 4 actually). Within my blog community, i share an interest of Law Enforcement, which comes as no surprise to most of you.
Tonight, i visited a blog of a police officer in Roanoke Virginia that i follow. He always has amazing stories of his life on the beat. This time he posted something different. Something i wish that the media would grab onto and pay attention to. They truly do ruin alot of people's lives..
Remember, in the USA, you are innocent until proven guilty. The court of public opinion means nothing, and the sooner the schlubs of this country realize that the better off we will all be, but until then, all i can do is help educate through the teachings of people that know what it is like to be a police officer in the USA fighting against a relentless, sensationalized, slandering media.
Below is a link to his blog page in regards to some videos. I won't tell you what they are about, i want you to read what he says and watch the videos.
Here is a word of caution. If you cannot handle "shocking" videos then don't watch them. However, it is important to understand what he means, and doing that without watching the videos is hard to do.
He has a two part blog about this.
The first part is here:
http://roavapd.blogspot.com/2009/01/training-opportunity.html

The Second, and the most important, is here:
http://roavapd.blogspot.com/2009/01/training-opportunity-contd.html

Thank you all
~T
PS: if you are a police officer, and you received this.. sorry, but maybe you can also spread the word about what it is you guys/gals go through. People just don't get it.

Just in Time for the Holidays

An indictment for drunk driving. http://www.mycentraljersey.com/article/20081212/NEWS/81212012

Only this DUI case involves a now deceased officer.
Officer Thomas Raji was killed August 22, 2008 by the accused (Sean McGuirk) after he ran a red light and collided with Officer Raji's patrol vehicle.

Officer Raji graduated the academy with my SO, I never met the man, but it still hurt knowing he knew him and that this officer will no longer see his family, friends, and yet-to-be-born baby. My prayers STILL go out to that family and i hope this indictment brings them closer to some semblance of closure.
Original Story can be found here: http://www.lawofficer.com/news-and-articles/in-memoriam/Officer_Thomas_Raji.html;jsessionid=F1DBD8784222A710103DD51AB3DE22AC

I know the intersection very well. I go through it twice a week. To run those two stop lights is near impossible. You are either DRUNK or impatient as the first red light is about 50 feet from the 2nd and the 2nd is in between the north and south lanes of the highway.

Officer Raji's road side memorial now marks the spot where his patrol vehicle came to a stop. It's very very very sad. I thank the bank that allows the memorial to stay, to this day, on their property.
