Pa. Officer Injured During Chase Off Shoplifter

ROSS Twp., Pa. --

A police officer was injured while trying to arrest a man who stole merchandise from the Ross Park Mall.
Mall security reported a man was attempting to leave the mall without paying for clothing from several stores.
Ross Township Police responded and chased the man, who fled into the parking lot on foot.

The suspect got into his car and attempted to get away, hitting several parked cars in the process.
An officer was also hit by the suspect's car as he raced out of the lot.

Police apprehended the man when he became stuck in holiday shopping traffic on McKnight Road.
He will be charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, and retail theft.

The officer is being checked out at the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
